We had been wanting to do a little family get away before school started back in. We decided to go the weekend before school started and we went to Big Bear. We rented a cabin for two nights and it was absolutely perfect! We took morning walks and the girls loved getting to watch morning cartoons (something they've never done before!) We went to the local zoo, rode bikes across a bridge, went on a little hike, visited the discovery center, got ice cream, went in the hot tub, played games, made campfire banana desserts, and ate lots of other yummy food! It was seriously such a good time and we all got along great. It was much needed time with just us. This was our first time doing our own mini vacation and it definitely will not be the last!
The girls were super excited to sleep in bunk beds and to share a room together. They kept asking if we could move there. We all love big bear! Zara learned how to climb the ladder and they had fun staying up and chatting. The nights worked out perfectly with them in the same room, but we had to separate them for naptime.
It was so fun to see them in their own space. They unpacked all their bedtime stuff (friends, blankets, clocks) and made everything all homey. They were both so responsible and got themselves dressed and put their dirty clothes in the dirty clothes bag. They were totally in their element!
Saturday morning Cartoons!!
Naptime.
Dessert Time!
Family Selfie time! (in front of our cabin)
The morning walks in Big Bear are seriously my favorite. The crisp fresh air is just so refreshing. We were also welcomed to Big Bear with a rain storm on the way up, it was lots of fun!
Zoo Time! This zoo is actually more of a rescue place for animals, we learned some very interesting information about their facility.
We got to watch the mountain lions play a game to get their food. It was pretty cool!
We had so much fun walking this bridge while the girls rode their bikes. Our girls are seriously just the perfect ages right now. So cute and fun!!
This is my sad attempt to get a family picture using a tree stump that was way too low. This was the only shot, the girls were begging to get back on their bikes. I really wanted it to be a fun and real weekend, not a "try to get the most perfect pictures" weekend. And I think we nailed it!!
