The 4th

I swear, it feels like we just had July 4th! The time is just flying by even faster w/ Kitana being in school. We decided to ditch the heat again and head up to big bear to enjoy the fireworks. And we had another great time! We decided to try the view from the other side of the lake and it was different from last year, but still so pretty. We were much closer to the action. We ate a Paul's favorite burger place and then set up our stuff and waited about 3 1/2 hours. Last year we waited about 6 hours. It was nice to have a shorter wait and it always goes by so quickly. The girls made friends with the little girl next to us and her mom hooked them up with glowsticks galore!! Paul decided to bring the dogs this year w/ much resistance from me. They had fun and behaved relatively well.

Zara loved her little headphones and wanted to wear them the whole time. We remembered to bring chairs this time and the girls loved sitting in them to watch the fireworks. It was a little strange that they didn't want to sit on our laps. They are growing up way too fast, but it's nice to see them getting more independent. The looks on their faces during the fireworks was so worth all the work to get there. Half way through the show Zara asked if they were done b/c she was so tired. Afterwards, Kitana also said that she loved them, but wished they weren't so late b/c she was so tired too. Haha!!

Also, it was pouring rain as we were driving up the mountain. The weather did the exact same thing last year too. So fun!!!

She refused to take her headphones off and wore them for about an hour before the fireworks even started. It made communicating with her very difficult!!!

I decided to take a different approach with the fireworks this year. I didn't realize we would be so close and am kicking myself for not getting a picture of their faces being lit up by the fireworks light. It'll be something fun to try for next year :)
