Kitana is 5 years old (actually 5 1/2 if you ask her!) She started Kindergarten last week. She is excited to be back in school, but really misses her old teacher and some of her favorite friends. About half of her class this year are the same kids from last year. She does like her new teacher, it's just going to take some getting used to.
She desperately wants to start losing her teeth. Her bottom two teeth are moving and spreading apart. That started a couple of months ago and I hear that is the beginning stages of starting the teeth loss. All of her friends and cousins have already lost teeth. She is patiently waiting. After years of wanting long hair, she asked me to cut it short at the beginning of summer. I told her the shortest I would go was to her shoulders. She wanted it shorter!! It has grown out a bit, but she loves it and loves how much cooler it is and easier it is to take care of.
She is still very smart and retains pretty much anything you tell her. She has lots of questions about life and is definitely growing up. I recently explained to her what a funeral was. Anytime she hears a word that she doesn't quite understand, she'll make us stop and explain it to her.
She loves to color and draw. She will sit a draw for at least an hour at a time. She is so good at it too, her animals are so cute. She loves to draw our house w/ our backyard, garden, dogs, swingset, etc. Her favorite color is "Elsa" blue and she still loves penguins. She loves comfy clothes and still refuses to wear any pants/shorts w/ a button and zipper. She decided last week that she was ready to ride a bike and tie her shoes. Two major accomplishments in one week! She is doing great, I will have to post more about the bike riding later.
Kitana is our little entertainer. She loves to put on singing and dancing shows for us. And she always comes up with the most creative things to play with her sister; dinosaurs, jaguars, family, etc...She always has a new idea and is lucky to have a little sister who goes along with whatever she wants to do.
Zara is 3 years old and is all things girly. She will only wear skirts and dresses. She especially loves skirts that twirl. The more sparkles, the better. I just love it!! She likes to spin when she walks and will do this cute little leg kick up thing. She loves dancing and will usually stop and dance whenever she hears music. She can count to 13 and loves the letter Z. There are only a few letters that she can instantly recognize and point out. My goal is to work with her this year to help he become more familiar with her numbers and letters. I also want to teach her to write her name.
She has discovered her glowworm the last couple of weeks. He is her new favorite friend and she has to have him right by her when she's sleeping. She says he keeps her safe because of his light. She can function on less sleep than Kitana can. Thank goodness for her green clock, or she would probably be one of those 5am kids. I would go crazy!!
She is a little firecracker and always has the most hilarious things to say. She has such a carefree attitude and is pretty easy going about things. Kitana always has to have certain color dishes and things a certain way in a particular order, but Zara is just the opposite. She always very willingly gives up whatever she has if Kitana really wanted that color. She is so sweet and giving and she calls Kitana "sis" We love it!
We have been working on doing puzzles and she is totally getting the concept. She can do a lot of puzzles herself now. Anytime she hears anyone say the word three, she says, "Hey, I'm three!" She LOVES to swing. Anytime we go outside to play she runs straight to the swings and will just swing forever. She also eats orange peels! I thought it was just a fluke thing when she was a baby b/c she just didn't know that you weren't supposed to eat them. Turns out she loves them! She specifically will ask me to leave the skin on when I cut one up for her. Now I have to make sure the skin is super clean since my little Z loves it more than the orange it's self!

I talk a lot to the girls about foods that are good for you and foods that are unhealthy. We call these foods that taste good, but aren't good for you. If they try something they like, Zara will say, "Is this junk? I love junk!" And Kitana will ask, "Is this good for you?" I love that they are learning healthy things to put in their bodies and learning at a young age which foods should be consumed in a limited amount. They seriously are obsessed and ask often! The other question I get, "Is there sugar in this?" Given my health condition, it's very important to me that they fully understand what types of food they are putting into their bodies.
I am beyond blessed that I get to be a mother to these beautiful girls. They are both so amazing and make me laugh every day. I am constantly surprised by how sweet and caring they both can be. They are amazing kids and I couldn't be prouder of them!
